Consert with Kanonenfieber
Kanonenfieber is a German extreme metal project that blends elements of black metal, death metal, melodic black / death metal and atmospheric war‑themed metal. The German musician known as Noise is the main person behind the project. The project emerged around 2020 and quickly gained attention for its unique concept and unusually serious approach to war‑themed metal. Their sound is typically aggressive, fast, and intense, but with a strong sense of melody and atmosphere. It’s not just brutality for its own sake—the music is crafted to feel cinematic and emotionally heavy. Kanonenfieber’s core message is that war is senseless and devastating. The project uses extreme metal as a medium to communicate that reality.
Instead of glorifying war, Kanonenfieber focuses on historical accuracy, anti‑war themes, first‑hand accounts from soldiers and archival documents from World War I. Every lyric is based on real letters, diaries, and military reports. The goal is to show the brutality and human cost of war, not to romanticize it. Noise uses verified historical documents as the foundation for the lyrics. This gives the music a documentary‑like quality. Live performances feature WWI‑inspired uniforms, gas masks, and stage props. Their show is theatrical, but always respectful of the subject matter. The music mixes blast beats and tremolo riffs , melodic passages, spoken‑word samples and atmospheric interludes. The Music is heavy, but also surprisingly emotional.
For me Kanonfieber was a clean slate before Inferno in 2026, but I am happy I attended the consert and had cameras along. Their performance where a tad theatrical, but I really liked the style of their music and the show they displayed. Thy where one of few bands during the festival that used pyro during, and the only consert where people did crowdsurfing.
I have shared more pictures from the Inferno festival 2026 in this blog post.
